YMCA Northumberland is committed to the
concept and practice of volunteer development. We depend on a
high degree of voluntary effort to serve as a link to the
community and to help expand and improve programs. We believe
that the partnership between volunteers and professionals is
what makes our delivery of service unique and successful.
Program volunteers are considered volunteer staff who are
responsible and accountable to staff for their performance. Our
program volunteers are expected to maintain the YMCA’s
high quality of service. The YMCA provides training
opportunities and support to its volunteers throughout their
commitment to the YMCA.
Our Board of Directors are volunteers who,
because of their expertise and interest, provide input and
advice to Association staff in the formation of policies.
There are many volunteer opportunities
within the YMCA:
Adult Programs
Membership Services
Youth and Pre-school programs
Youth Leader Corps
Aquatics
International Program
Ontario Early Years
Maintenance.
To become a volunteer, please ask for
details at our Membership Services Desks at the Cobourg YMCA
and the Brighton YMCA, or at any of our Ontario Early Years
Centres.
We currently have over 130 volunteers who
provide over 10,000 hours of service a year to our YMCA.
We thank them for their generous support and commitment
to our YMCA.
