Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction
Saturday June 4 | 6:30pm
This culturally rich event helps raises funds to enable women living in poverty in rural Nicaragua to have access to training, health support programs, and provides small livestock to feed families through our partner YMCA in Nicaragua.
This annual event is always well attended, and draws many supporters and community leaders. Attendees will enjoy dining, dancing, decadent desserts, Fair Trade coffee and teas, wine & beer cash bar, and an array of silent auction items for every taste.
Tickets for this event can be purchased at the Cobourg YMCA.

For over 12 years we have worked with our partner in YMCA Nicaragua on development projects. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. 70% of the population of Nicaragua lives on less than $1 a day. Many of these people are women, struggling on their own to feed their children and to send them school. The programs offered through our partner YMCA in Nicaragua are aimed to help create better opportunity for vulnerable families, youth and women to education, support services and micro-credit loans.
Women Para Mujeres
Women for Women
Woman Para Mujeres is a group of volunteer women from the Cobourg area who work to support women’s projects through the YMCA Northumberland Global Initiatives program.
These women are all mothers of past YMCA Youth Exchange participants who wanted to keep connected with the wonderful young people from Nicaragua whom they had hosted and wanted to help improve the lives of their mothers and other like them who are involved in development programs with the YMCA of Nicaragua.
