A Community Builder
A YMCA builds leadership, character and
competence in individuals within a group setting. A YMCA is a
values-based environment in which friendships are formed,
family relationships are strengthened and community ties made.
A World-Wide Family
The YMCA was founded in 1844 and an
international alliance of national organizations was created in
1855, the World Alliance, to which YMCA Canada belongs.
Hundreds of associations world-wide are partnered for mutual
learning, support and exchange.
A Canadian Leader
YMCA Canada is a federation of 50 YMCAs
and 12 YMCA/YWCAs. YMCA Canada represents associations at the
world-level and assists association to work together to build
their capacity and relate to government and national leaders in
other sectors.
