On Sunday, October 16, 2016 the Cobourg YMCA is offering the community free fitness assessments to better understand overall health and fitness.
Throughout the day, Cobourg YMCA staff will test participants for cardiovascular and muscular strength, flexibility and endurance. These results will help develop specific fitness goals and monitor progress. There will also be an opportunity for participants to get advice on goal-setting and how to kick-start their fitness journey.
“It is important to complete a fitness assessment prior to beginning your fitness journey so you can track your progress and celebrate your accomplishments,” says Mette Aarlev, Coordinator of Adult Programs at the Cobourg YMCA. “Our fitness assessments will not only teach you something new about yourself, but it will also give you motivation and guidance to conquer your health goals.”
Free fitness assessments will be offered to anyone in the community over 16 years of age. Registration is not required for this event.

YMCA Northumberland offers group fitness classes at its personal conditioning centres in Brighton and Cobourg. Both centres provide a variety of fitness classes in categories including low intensity, medium intensity, high intensity and aquatics (Cobourg location only). With a wide range of cardio, strength, plate-loaded and free weight equipment, everyone can achieve their personal fitness goals at the YMCA.
