Life is better when you’re golfing

For the past 12 years we have held our YMCA Strong Kids Golf Tournament at the beautiful Timber Ridge Golf Course in Brighton. Together, we have raised over $150,000 to help kids go to summer day camp, learn to swim, become youth leaders and have a safe and caring place to be active and healthy. Your participation helps kids from our community participate in YMCA Summer Day Camps, Swim Lessons, Youth Programs, Youth Leadership, and will give kids a chance at a brighter future.

Golf offers valuable skills, techniques and healthy benefits that will challenge anyone. So, grab you clubs and get swinging for a healthier future.

YMCA Northumberland’s annual Strong Kids Charity Golf Tournament encourages people of all ages to play golf for kids’ sake. By participating, you are contributing to helping over 1,000 youth in Northumberland County participate in healthy activities at the YMCA.
Golfing is often thought of as a passive sport that does not require any real degree of fitness. However, golf incorporates cardiovascular exercise, strength training, balance and coordination. For many people, golf provides a stimulating mental challenge combined with routine physical activity and socialization.

On average, golfers walk between five and seven kilometers each round, when they choose to walk instead of driving a golf cart. The game of golf itself is mentally challenging and rewarding at the same time. It requires strategy, concentration and patience to complete a game satisfied with your performance.
